Burnt Orange = Cozy Fall Colors

I snagged a Treasury yesterday afternoon and it came together well. My theme was burnt orange. I just love the fall colors, they make me think about breaking out the hot chocolate, flannel backed quilts and turning on the fire with a good movie and warm popcorn.

So far the treasury has made it to page 1 and 1 item by Postcardlady has already sold. YAY, success!

I've Been Featured!

It has been a great day in the Suzy-Q household. My Pumpkin Spice journal sold today

and I was featured in this great treasury by WestCoastGlass. WestCoast Glass is a great shop on etsy. They are one of my favorites and have beautiful hand blown glass vases.

Take a moment and check out this Cheery Cherries Treasury on Etsy:

Seashore Green Treasury!

After many many days of going without getting a treasry, Treasury West opened up at just the right time for me today. I put together this treasury on the spur of the moment from my favorites and it turned out great! Click on the image below to see it full screen and leave a comment if you like.

New Totes!

The other day I decided that I need to shift my focus a bit. I have been doing a ton of custom orders which has kept me busy and brought in some much needed income. However, my etsy shop suzyqquilts.etsy.com is suffering a bit from being stale and possibly growing mold from no new items!

Now, every other day is devoted to finishing something for my shop. I am now much more productive on custom days as I know I have less time to finish the orders and if I get them done I get to do my stuff. On days I get to work on shop items I am much more excited to dive into a new project and get it done!
My first task was to finish some partially done items. So, here are 4 new totes that are now available in my shop:

Suede Skunk Purse

This was a fun custom order to work on! The customer wanted a black suede slouchy purse with a felt vintagy skunk on it. We did some searching and found the skunk clip are pictured below.
I sized the image and cut it out of felt, then took silver paint to paint on the strips and added a crystal for the eye.

Then I began creating the purse. I found some great faux suede at the store and had a satin material in a light sagey aqua color that went well with the black.
I determined the size I wanted, added a zippered pocket in the liner and Wha La a Suede like slouchy purse with a felt skunk.
My customer has this shop on etsy if you would like to check it out: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7792604

Now Tweeting

So I finally gave in and opened a twitter account. Still learning the ropes, but I think this will be a good marketing tool. I guess anything at this point to get my name out there will help!

Here's my link if you would like to follow along:

Aprons Galore!

Today has been a productive day so far. Yesterday was filled with soccer soccer soccer so it was nice to get something accomplished.

I had a custom order for a painter's apron and had a great time making it. The outside is made with oil cloth with a great print. The oil cloth makes the apron great for crafting, painting and even for hair dressers or others that use products or chemicals that they don't want to ruin their clothes. The liner is done in a fun red and white large polk-a- dot. The combination gives it a great vintage feel.
I especially liked the cut of the apron. Many aprons that are made to resist stains etc are made in a very blocky shape. This one is cut to accentuate those feminine curves that make women so unique.
Now, off to make a custom tote!

Back to School!

The kids are off and out the door for the first day back. I think both of them were ready! Tanner hit the road on his bike and met up with friends to finish the journey. Sierra opted for the bus, but I think we will walk home this afternoon.

Here are pictures of the two:

Now it's time for me to get something done. First I am going to work on creating page templates for a custom address book. Not sure what I am going to do for a hard cover or for binding the pages, but that is part of the fun. Next off to the fabric store to pick up a couple of things for my upcoming projects. Then work on dinosaur applique's for a boys duffle bag.

Getting Serious

The kids are back to school tomorrow so it's time to get down to business. No distractions from 9 am until 3:30 pm. That should be enough time right?!

Many new items have gotten completed here are some pictures. The first is the motorcycle quilt that is complete, next is a dandelion quilt that just got finished and the last is a cute super huge tote.
