It's All About...Vol 4

TURQUOISE!

I was working away in my studio this evening, rare for me after dinner, my embroidery machine humming away and starting to layout the blocks for a new quilt when it dawned on me that the Treasury should be opening soon.  I opened it up to find it at 333 with 3 minutes to go.  So here I present for you Vol 4 Turquoise:

Featured sellers for this treasury are: ForTheLoveOfSmocking, postcardlady, uniquelynancy, ForQuiltsSake, deniseannette, MoranArtQuilts, SuzyQQuilts, lovebugstudios, UsherArt, asecondtime, LeslieHillDesigns and hedgehogfibres.  Alternates for this treasury are quiltingcafe, lmkquilts, Adornette and Whimbrella .

The theme for Vol 5 will be....drum roll....HIM.  My wonderful husbands birthday is tomorrow so I think I should find some things he woudl like.  If you would like to be included become a follwer of this blog and leave a comment on this post.

Thursday Adventure!

My husband walked into my studio yesterday and stated "I'm going on an adventere".  "Ok....so are you going by yourself?" I asked curiously.  "I don't have anyone else to go with do I?" he responded impatiently.  "So what am I chopped liver?" I said astounded.  "Well then, Let's go!" he stated and turned and walked away.

Not wanting to get left behind I got my embroidery machine a humming and grabbed my coat and we were off.  We live in one of the most beautiful parts of the world, Northwest Washington.  With the unusually mild winter we have had we took advantage of the sunshine and went exploring in our trusty GEOJEEP.

We always nickname our cars, this one is GEOJEEP becuase we love Geocaching as a family and this is the vehicle that always get's us there.

To start our adventure we headed up toward Mt.Baker Ski Area and took an inviting looking logging road.  It was bumpy and tossed me around a bit, but it was worth the drive.  At the end of the road we hopped out and explored.  Not very far was a river with some beautiful scenery:

We also found a dam that created a waterfall.  My husband decided that he could easily get across the river and explore a little more by hopping on the sand bar in the middle, looked pretty packed.  Well he took the first jump and landed where he wanted to, but it wasn't solid!  He sunk about halfway up his calf and moved across that river like he was jumpin on hot rocks.  He decided to take the safe way back:

The next road we took we found a great place called Nooksack Falls.  It was soo beautiful.  The falls were so high and the cool green glacial water just rushed over the edge and into the river below.

I got the camera wrangled out of my hands to prove that I actually was there too.

Definitely a place full of history and one we would like to go back and explore some more...soon!

Making Progress

I have buried myself in my studio the last couple days...well except yesterday...and have made some great progess with getting my to do list done.  The first project to get done is my Muted Figgy Pudding, it turned out great.  I love these colors together so comforting and unexpected for a Christmas design.  I used my trusty Soduku method and put together the charm squares and quilted away.  Here are the results:

Muted Figgy Pudding $215 at SuzyQ's

With UFO number two complete that makes my list as follows:

1. New York Beauty
2. Tessalating Leaves

Since I was so good and go two of my older projects done I decided that I deserved a treat and worked on some Valentines items.  Here is the first to be completed, L'Amour Valentines Table Runner.  It is made from Moda's L'Amour line designed by Sandy Gervais.  The table runner measuers 14"x36" and is free motion quiltes with swirls and hearts.

Next I moved on to two quilts.  The tops are complete and ready to be loaded onto my machine so hopefully I'll be able to share with you all be the end of the weekend.

Cheers!

Hooty Hoo Complete!

Well I managed to do it and squeeked out the first of many UFO's on my list before the end of last week. Many of my Quiltsy Team members on Etsy have decided it's time to get those UFO's done. I have to say that it sure would creat a whole lot more room in my studio! So I am on board.

What is a UFO you ask? Well a UFO is an UnFinished Object also known as a PIG (Project In Grocery bag), and a WIP (Work In Progress). As quilters if we are not careful with our fabric or pattern selections our creations can also become WOMBATs (Waste Of Material, Batting And Time). Luckily I have not yet experience a Wombat.

Without further ado, here is my first completed UFO "Hooty Hoo"

Next UFO's to finish:
1. Muted Figgy Pudding
2. New York Beauty

It's All About... Vol 1 & 2

As promised the first two in this years treasury series "It's All About" have been published.  Yesterday I managed to get both a Main Treasury and Treasury West

The first theme of the year and Vol 1 is "Family".  I felt that this was so appropriate after the holidays have come to a close and kids are returning to school, we are returning to our daily grind.  I always remind myself why I am doing what I do, for my family.  Enjoy.

Vol 2 featured something that is near and dear to my heart and goes hand in hand with family, Quilts.  Quilts warm you when you are cold, comfort you when you aren't feeling well, bring families together to snuggle, offer support during tough times or tragedies.

Vol 3 theme will be It's All About...Little Girls.  If you have an item that you would to have considered to be included, leave me a comment with the link.

Happy New Year and the New Year's List

Christmas...Wow!
First Day of 2010...Wow!

It has been a whirlwind Christmas at Suzy-Q's this year.  My goals for Christmas were to sell a couple of quilts and clear out some items in my shop.  Well life had a different plan in mind.  The sale of my custom stockings took off.  I don't think I took a breath for about 3 weeks.  105 stockings later it was 2 days before Christmas and I hadn't made any of the presents for family yet!  Luckily my fabulous husband jumped in and go the house clean and ready to go as well as many other Honey Do tasks.

For the last week I have been putting my studio in order and getting ready for the new year.  It came in without out a hitch last night so now it's up to me to make good on those plans.  Here's my list for this year:

1. Personally I need to continue to eat better and shed those last 10 pounds
2. Get my Koffee Kuffs into some local shops to generate more retail sales and at least 1 wholesale customer
3. Finish all of those unfinished projects
4. Sell a minimum of 12 quilts this year (1 per month)
5. Blog more consistently

I think that's a good start for now. :)

New Stuff:

In progress I have a quilt called Hooty Hoo, very cute and should be available next week along with Muted Figgy Pudding.

Now available are new Valentines Koffee Kuffs

Stockings are still available in a great variety of colors, quilting styles and fonts.  Order yours now as I will be limiting the quantity that I will be able to get out between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Available for Christmas of 2010 will be coordinating Tree Skirts to go with your stockings.

Last but certainly not least I am going to work on a series of Treasuries titled "A Tribute To...".  Each treasury will have a different theme or will feature a Etisian Artist.  My goal is to get 1 per week so watch this blog for new editions.

To start the year of on the right foot I did snag a treasury this morning called "It's in the Air...Love".  Have fun browsing through all of the great items:

Happy 2010!
